Police Nab Telecoms Mast Vandals

Police have arrested three suspected members of a syndicate, which specializes in vandalizing the masts of telecommunication firms, operating in Nigeria.

The three suspects were arrested over vandalization of MTN mast at Ibafo, in Ogun State.

The suspects are Adeola Oyesanya, Bashir Mohammed and Musa Mohammed.

Spokesman of Ogun State police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said members of the syndicate invaded the MTN site on Saturday night and attempted to cart away 12 batteries valued at 1.8 million naira.

Oyeyemi said that a team of policemen, which rushed to the scene, following a distress call, arrested Oyesanya while others escaped and abandoned the items they had vandalized.

Oyesanya, according to Oyeyemi, later led detectives to two other suspects who were alleged receivers of stolen goods.

According to him, the state police commissioner, Kenneth Ebrimson, has ordered the suspects to be transferred to the state criminal, investigations and intelligence department for further investigations.
