Police have intercepted a vehicle loaded with 17 sacks of hard drugs, suspected to be Indian hemp at Mowe-Ibafo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun State.
The seizure was made last Sunday at about 6:30pm, by a team of policemen inside a Ford car marked gge 782 ex heading to Lagos.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, says the driver of the vehicle, Daniel Elimuya, is now in Police custody.
According to Oyeyemi, the seizure follows intelligence received by the Ibafo Divisional Police Headquarters that a car coming from Delta State, heading to Lagos, was loaded with suspected illicit drugs.
The spokesman says the arrested suspect, upon interrogation, allegedly confessed of being a long time Indian hemp distributor, and that the drugs were to be delivered to one “Kofo” in Lagos Island.
