Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the arrest of all tax revenue officials operating on federal roads nationwide.
Ahead of the take-off of the directive today, Idris directed police to dismantle all forms of illegal road blockage created by revenue tax collectors, road transport unions as well as labour union related bodies.
Force spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, in a statement said that police special X-squad teams had been deployed to begin enforcing the directive as from today.
The squad, according to him, has been directed by the Inspector General of Police to arrest, investigate and prosecute any person and groups found committing such illegal acts.
The force asked the state and local governments internal revenue agencies officials to vacate the highways and roads
Such illegal blockade of roads, according to the force headquarters, are being used by armed robbers and kidnappers to terrorize members of the public.
