Police have launched for a manhunt for members of an armed gang who escaped after a shoot-out with a police team at J-four axis of the Sagamu-Ore expressway.

They escaped after hours of gun battle with a police team deployed from the Ogbere Police Division, to rescue the passengers that members of the gang were robbing on the expressway.

Two members of the robbery gang were shot dead by the police team, one of them was arrested, while others escaped with gunshot injuries.

Ogun State police commissioner, Ahmed Iliyasu, addressing a news conference at the Igbeba area police command in Ijebu Ode, said policemen from Ogbere led by their divisional police officer, John Okoh, raced to the spot of the robbery, after receiving a tip off.

The bandits, according to the commissioner, were overpowered after hours of gun battle with the police team, who rescued the victims unhurt.

He asked members of the public to report anyone with gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.
