Police arrest new Ogun PDP exco after forceful takeover of secretariat

Armed policemen have ejected the new Ogun state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executive committee installed by the PDP national caretaker committee, from the party’s secretariat at Oke-Mosan, in Abeokuta.

The police moved in, after the new executive committee headed by Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele, chased the Bayo Dayo-led state executive committee from the secretariat, early on Monday.

Armed policemen from police zonal intervention squad, Obada Oko, are keeping vigil at the secretariat, after whisking away supporters of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi PDP, met at the secretariat.

Before the arrival of the police, suspected party thugs had chased out Bayo Dayo-led executive’s staff and officials met at the secretariat, to pave the way for its take-over by the Ogundele state executive committee.

Ogundele, addressing newsmen at the party state secretariat, after the takeover, said they were acting on the instruction from the PDP national caretaker committee in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Bayo Dayo-led state executive committee has regained the control of the secretariat
