Pensioners to honour Amosun, five other governors for not owing pension

Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun,

30 state governors are owing pensions, according to the National Union of Pensioners.

The union names governors not owing pensioners as Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos), Ibrahim Badaru (Jigawa), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Willie Obiano (Anambra) and Abdullahi Geidam of Yobe as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

The union’s spokesman, Bunmi Ogunkolade, who made this known in a statement, said the six governors will receive awards at the forthcoming quadrennial delegate conference of the union on Wednesday, next week.

According to him, the state governor who prioritise the welfare of workers on the payroll of their administration deserve the honour.

He said pensioners in the country will use to conference to assess what the future holds for the contributory pension scheme in the country and also set agenda for the federal government as well as resolve on how to tackle state governors who have deliberately refused to offset pension liabilities to the senior citizens.
