*Makarfi Faction ejects rival from Abuja Headquarters
The leadership crisis in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reached a critical level, as a faction backing the Makarfi Caretaker Committee on Wednesday invaded the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja.
The Pro-Makarfi supporters ejected those met in the complex, including the National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo and National Treasurer, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju who belong to the Ali Modu Sheriff Faction.
The supporters then locked PDP headquarters and handed over its keys to chairman of PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jibrin, who arrived at the secretariat later.
Later, PDP supporters backing the Ali Modu Sheriff faction arrived at the PDP Headquarters and removed the padlocks at the gate, but did not enter the complex.
The invasion of the secretariat by Pro-Markafi committee supporters took place as PDP top officials opposing the leadership of Ali Modu Sheriff converged in Abuja for a crucial meeting which lasted overnight.
Meanwhile, Ali Modu Sheriff has described those who invaded the PDP national headquarters in Abuja as hoodlum, and the incident as barbaric.
Sheriff urged supporters to be calm, and that the law would take its due course in the crisis.
Also, the Former National Secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo on Wednesday night denied he was chased out of the PDP Headquarters by Pro-Makarfi caretaker committee supporters.
Oladipo in a statement said he voluntarily left the secretariat.
