The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) plans to convene a stakeholders meeting on Thursday in Abuja.
Leaders of PDP Women Forum made this known after a visit to former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
The forum leader, Mrs Biodun Olujinmi, addressing newsmen after the meeting, said Jonathan briefed them on the proposed meeting, expected to be attended by all the party’s organs and groups.PDP Women Forum Commends Jonathan
She could not say if PDP’s two factions will be at the proposed meeting, but explained that efforts will be made to resolve issues affecting the party.
She said “We intend that former President Jonathan takes the leadership role in our party. He is our leading light and he is the leader of the party. As it is, he is the only former President who is still within the party and alive.
“So we believe he is the only voice that can bring all warring groups together and will be able to resolve all the issues. That is exactly what he has decided to do. He even told us that there is a major stakeholders meeting on Thursday this week where efforts will be made to resolve most of the issues in the party.”
Jonathan has been spearheading the ongoing moves to reconcile the Ali Modu Sheriff and Makarfi factions, who are battling for the control of the party in court.
Other women in the delegation include Mulikat Akande, Senator Esther Nenadi, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, Hon. Becky Igwe and Chief Remi Adiukwu Bakare.
