Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed its committee on the zoning of its national offices, ahead of the May 21 national conventions, to produce formula that will be acceptable to all factions within the party.
The decision followed opposition from some of PDP chieftains to the outcome of the last week’s meeting of the party’s top leaders in Uyo, during which posts in the national working committee were zoned.
Another meeting of the zoning committee headed by Governor Emmanuel Udom, is expected to hold in Uyo next week, to resolve the crisis created by the zoning formula, ahead of the party’s national convention coming up on May 21.
Meanwhile, PDP national working committee has adjusted the timetable for the conduct of ward congresses, preparatory to the party national convention.
PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh, in a statement, said the ward congresses had been shifted from April 23 to April 30, local government congress to May 5, and the state congress to May 10. Metuh said the date for the conduct of the national convention still remained May 21.
