*Sheriff faction says they are law breakers

PDP caretaker committee headed by Senator Ahmed Makarfi has taken over the running of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the party’s board of trustees (BOT).

The committee resumed at the PDP national headquarters, Abuja, on Tuesday, after the bot handed over the complex to Makarfi.

Former Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, handed over to Makarfi on behalf of the immediate past national working committee of the party, promising they would co-operate with him.

Meanwhile, the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of PDP has described the Makarfi caretaker committee as a bunch of law breakers by taking over the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

The party’s national secretary, Professor Wale Oladipo, in a statement issued after PDP bot handed over the party to the makarfi committee, said the law would take its due course in the crisis, in the next one week.

Also condemning the Makarfi committee’s takeover of the PDP secretariat, are the party’s deputy national legal adviser, Bashir Maidugu who described the Makarfi committee as illegal.

He said his faction will initiate a contempt proceeding in court, to enforce an interlocutory injunction it obtained from a federal high court stopping election into the office of the national chairman, national secretary and national treasurer, at the recent disputed national convention in Port Harcourt
