Panel to take over high profile cases from EFCC, Police, DSS and FIRS

Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami has set up a panel to take over most of the high profile cases being handled by federal agencies vested with the powers of prosecution.

The agencies include the economic and financial crimes commission, the independent corrupt practices and related offences commission, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the Police force and the Department of Security Service.

The minister at a meeting with top officials of the agencies in Abuja, directed them to compile such high profile cases, and hand them over to the newly established National Prosecution Coordination Committee.

Malami said members of the committee are mostly officials from the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, to be supported by eight external experts to expedite the prosecution of the cases.
