Chairmen of Local Governments in Oyo State have rejected their sack by Governor Seyi Makinde.
Makinde had dissolved the Local Governments Councils as one of his first act in Office on Wednesday.
The Council Chairmen, under the auspice of Association of Local Governments of Oyo State, at a news conference in Ibadan accuses the new Governor of acting unconstitutionally.
The Association Chairman, Prince Ayodeji Abass, says the sacked Council Chairmen are democratically elected, and will remain in Office until the expiration of their tenure.
Abass explains that State Governors lack the powers under the 1999 constitution to sack democratically elected Local Government Chairmen.
He refers the Governor to a valid order of Court which says that Governors and State Houses of Assembly lack the powers to dissolve democratically elected Local Government Officials.
