Osun state government has declared a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ile-Ife, following the ethnic clash which left several people dead and injured.
Director of Communication and Strategy in the Governor Office, Semiu Okanlawon, in a statement issued on Wednesday night, said the curfew will last between 6 pm and 7 am till Friday.
Okanlawon said the cause of the clashes is being investigated.
To contain the clashes from spreading, more mobile policemen were deployed to the town on Wednesday night.
The fighting which began on Tuesday night was more pronounced in Lagere, Ola-Oluwa and Sabo areas of the town, with several shops and stalls set ablaze.
