Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has explained that the $1billion to be withdrawn from the excess crude oil account, is not only for fighting Boko Haram in the North East region.
The fund, according to him will also cater for other security challenges all over the country.
Osinbajo made the clarification at the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and secretaries to the state governments retreat holding in Abuja.
The state governors agreed to the withdrawal of the fund from the account after attending the security summit organized by the National Economic Council, during which security chiefs spoke on the security situation in the country.
The major opposition party, PDP and chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Ayodele Fayose, had criticized the withdrawal, saying it is for APC 2019 campaign.
