Nine hundred and twenty suspected criminals, including kidnappers, cultists, and armed robbers have been arrested nationwide in the past four weeks, by the Police in the ‘operation puff adder’.
424 of those arrested are suspected kidnappers, 276 suspected armed robbers, 176 suspected cultists and 44 suspected murderers.
Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, rolls out the crimes figure during his monthly meeting with the Police management team and senior Police officers at the force headquarters in Abuja.
Of the suspected kidnappers, Kaduna State tops with 101 suspects, followed by Katsina with 79, and 54 in Nasarawa State.
The Police Chief also says that 77 vehicles were recovered along with various types of arms and ammunition during the four week period.
The recovered arms include 34 rocket launcher, 309 firearms, including ak-47 assault rifles, pistols as well as 10,860 ammunition of different caliber.
