One person has died in attacks by smugglers on a Customs patrol at Ohunbe in Yewa axis of Ogun State
Following the death, youths in the area blockaded Oja Odan/Ibele road, and set all checkpoints of Customs and other security agencies between Olajogun, Hager and Ohunbe, on fire
The smugglers launched the attack on Friday, to prevent a patrol of joint border and drill from seizing several kegs of 25 litres of petrol at Olajogun in Oja Odan, from being smuggled out of the country
In the process, one Tunde Alabe was hit by bullets and died during exchange of gunfire between the customs patrol and the smugglers
Spokesman of the Ogun State Customs Command One, Idiroko, Deputy Superintendent Hameed Oloyede lists items destroyed by the youths and smugglers, including two patrol vans of customs, a patrol van of Nigeria Immigration Service, a Mercedes Benz SUV and four Immigration Motorcycles
Others are two buildings and several patrol points in the area The Customs Area Comptroller, Peter Chado Kolo has promised to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident
