Ondo State Government has indicated its readiness to invest in the cultivation of marijuana for medicinal purpose.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu gave this indication through his verified twitter handle yesterday while reacting to some media reports on his trip to Thailand.
The Governor and the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah, are in the Asian country for a programme on the development of medicinal cannabis.
Akeredolu imploring the Presidency to approve his proposal, says that Ondo State knows how to grow marijuana, and that it grows well in the State.
He explains that the proposed medicinal marijuana cultivation will be under the supervision of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
NDLEA between January and August last year destroyed 110,542 tons of marijuana in the State.
