Oil production hits 1.8MBD – Kachikwu

Petroluem Resources Minister of State, Ibe Kachikwu says the crude oil production is rising again, following the ongoing talks with the Niger Delta Militants.

Kachikwu said the daily crude oil production level rose to 1.8 million barrels last Wednesday, from around 1.4 million barrels it dropped to, during the recent attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta Region.

The minister who made this known at the tenth annual business conference of the Nigeria Bar Association in Abuja, said he expected the daily production level to hit 2.3 million barrels by next month, above 2.2 million barrels before the recent militancy in the region.

Kachikwu said to secure the ceasefire by the militants, he visited them in the creeks, met with the local chiefs in the oil producing communities to agree on a short, medium and long term solutions to the problems in the region.
