Massive production of cassava, rice and maize is to be undertaken in Ogun state under the anchor borrowers programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to boost food production in the state.
The state co-ordinator of the programme, Tosin Ademuyiwa, who made this known in Abeokuta, while flagging-off of the programme says that financial support will be given to youth and small scale farmers under the programme.
Apart from the production of cassava, rice and maize, Ademuyiwa who also is the state Governor’s Special Assistant on Agriculture, explains that attention will also be given to fisheries and poultry farming.
Ademuyiwa asked youths and those interested in the programme to forward their applications to the Ministry of Agriculture, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta for enrolment into the programme.
Ten thousand youths and small scale farmers, according to him, will benefit from the programme, adding that about 1,000 youths have indicated interest in the food production programme.
