Ogun Tribunal Declares House Of Reps Poll In Ijebu Axis Inconclusive

Ogun State National and State Assembly Polls Tribunal has declared inconclusive the election into the House of Representatives in the Ijebu Ode/ Ijebu North East and Odogbolu Federal Constituency.

The tribunal orders Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a re-run poll in the constituency within 90 days.

INEC, in the last February 23 National Assembly Poll, had declared Kolapo Osunsina of APC, as the winner of the poll.

But the tribunal ruling in an application filed by PDP candidate, Taiwo Shote, to challenge the poll results, orders the re-run poll in two polling units and a ward in the constituency.

The wards where the re-run poll will hold, include ward eight in the Ijebu North East Local Government Area, Ward Five, Polling Unit Five in the Ijebu Ode Local Government area, and Ward Ten, Polling Unit Three in the Odogbolu Local Government Area.

The tribunal says it agreed with PDP candidate’s demand for the re-run poll, since the total number of registered voters in the affected polling units were more than the over 3,000 marginal votes differences between the two leading candidates in the poll.
