Ogun State Government says it is set to commence the clearing of water hyacinth that covered some parts of Ogun River at Kara, Isheri, area of the state,
The Environment Commissioner, Bolaji Oyeleye, who made this known during the final assessment of the river before the planned evacuation, said the ministry wants to use mechanized equipment for clearing of the affected parts of the river.
Oyeleye said the terrains had not made the transportation of the needed machinery easy, while giving assurance that work would commence very soon, despite such challenges.
He added that law enforcement agents had been mobilized to ensure orderliness and safety of residents at the site.
The Commissioner cautioned residents on the danger in walking or playing on the affected part of the river.
