Ogun targets defective buildings

Ogun state government says it is liaising with community development associations, to detect dilapidated structures prone to collapse, to safeguard lives in the state.

Urban and Physical Planning Commissioner, Bashorun Adebola Adeife, made this known to newsmen on the sideline of the distribution of another batch of 1,000 certificates of occupancy, to beneficiaries of the state government’s home owners charter programme in Abeokuta.

Adeife said the State Government, has been tracking dilapidated buildings likely to collapse, since a woman and her daughter were killed by a dilapidated building, which collapsed recently at Sokenu in Abeokuta.

The commissioner said owners of detected dilapidated structures, would be encouraged to demolish them, so they would not collapse on anyone.
