The suspended Chairmen of Ogun State’s 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAS) have accused the immediate past Amosun’s administration of depriving them of fund to run their Councils.
The State House of Assembly, last Friday, directed each of the Councils Chairmen to submit the statement of account and budget documents of their councils, detailing revenue allocation received, internally generated revenue and capital projects executed in the last two years to the incoming Ninth Legislature.
According to the State Assembly, several petitions were received against the Councils’ Chairmen, accusing them of misappropriation of public fund which led to their suspension last May 31.
But speaking with RockcityFM news at the State Assembly Complex in Abeokuta, Chairman of Ijebu East Central LCDA, Adebayo Osikomaiya, speaking on behalf of others, alleged that the Local Governments had been crippled financially by the Amosun’s administration.
He dismissed the claims by the Amosun’s administration that it had been supporting each of the Local Councils with 2 million naira on monthly basis, to augment the allocation from the federation account.
Osikomaiya asked the Ninth State Assembly to reverse the suspension of the Councils Chairmen and Councilors and allow them to complete their tenure in October as elected Councils Officials.
