Top leaders of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and Governor Ibikunle Amosun have met to end the staggered strike by medical doctors in Ogun State Public Hospitals.
The association is expected to convene a congress of its members to brief them on the outcome of the meeting and decide whether ot not to suspend the strike.
The doctors who began the strike this week decided to stay away from duties on Monday and Tuesday of every week until their various demands, including adequate equipment, staffing and drugs are provided in the hospitals.
Former National Secretary of NMA, Doctor Adewunmi Alayaki, speaking on a Rockcity FM programme:’The Daybreak Show’ said officials of the NMA and the State Governor met on Wednesday to explore ways of ending the strike.
Alayaki who regarded the meeting as very fruitful, said the Governor said the State Government is already addressing their demands.
