Teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as, principals in Ogun State’s public secondary schools, have called on the state government to urgently remit their outstanding deductions and dues to the appropriate quarters.
They also called for the recruitment of additional teachers into the state’s public schools, to reduce the workload of teachers in the schools.
The state Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS), Akeem Lasisi, made the call, at the end of a three day fasting and prayer organized by the union, in conjunction with the non-academic staff union of schools and colleges branch, and All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), over the rise in the numbers of deaths among their members.
Lasisi urge the state government to release the co-operative and bank loans deductions of the teaching and non-teaching staff of the state public secondary schools.
During the event, special prayers were offered by reverend Tunde Amusan of rock foundation church and the Chief Imam of Abadiyat Central Mosque, Leme, Abeokuta, Ustaz Ismail.
The unions also distributed medical equipment to their chapters in all the state’s local government areas, to check the blood pressure and sugar level of their members.
The event was attended by officials from the state teaching service commission, led by its Chairperson, Mrs Olabosipo Ogunsan.
