Ogun Introduces Levy in Schools

Ogun State Government has asked parents and guardians whose children and wards are in public secondary schools, to pay compulsory ₦3,700 levy when schools resume for the 2019/2010 academic session.

Education, science and technology ministry issued the directive in a circular signed by the director of education (secondary schools), on behalf of the ministry’s permanent secretary.

The ₦3,700 levy, include ₦600 for PTA per term, as well as ₦500 computer per term, ₦500 per session for insurance and ₦300 per term for sports/jet/literary.

Other levies are ₦1,500 for school material such as caps, badges, and beret, as well as ₦300 payable by new intakes for a file jacket.

The circular says the levy has the approval of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

School principals were also directed to ensure that students dressed according to the approved dress code.
