Ogun Stakeholders Want Youth/Sports Ministry Scrapped

Major stakeholders in Ogun State sports sector have called for the scrapping of the state youth and sports ministry.

The stakeholders, include Sports Administrators and sports coaches.

Making the call were former director of the state sports council, Adetunji Onatolu, a former national basketball coach, Alabi Adelanwa and former sports Administrator, Adetunji Onatolu

Their position was supported by several persons who spoke, including a union leader, Tunji Ogidan.

They made the demand at an open hearing of the Ogun State house of assembly on the state sports commission bill and the state sports trust fund bill held at the assembly complex in Abeokuta.

They want the proposed sports commission to take over the running of sporting activities in the state.

Sports, according to them, is a serious business that should attract the needed investors.

The speaker, Olakunle Oluomo and chairman of the house sports committee, Sola Adams, promise to consider their suggestion during the passage of the bills.
