Ogun State has been selected for the implementation of a pilot project for water sanitation and hygiene.
Projects to be executed under the programme, include the construction of boreholes and toilets to rid the state of open defecation by the year 2030.
Ogun State was picked along with Kano State, for the expanded programme water sanitation and hygiene.
The state water resources and rural development ministry’s permanent secretary, Reverend Gbele Olugbebi made this known to committee on water resources, energy and rural development of the state House of Assembly which is monitoring the implementation of the state’s 2017 budget.
The permanent secretary explained that the state Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN), will be in charge of the project, which aims at promoting environmental sanitation and personal hygiene in the state.
