Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) says it collected tax totalling N12 billion in the past seven months, despite the harsh economic conditions in the state.
The agency chairman, Adeosun Adekunle, made this known, while receiving members of the finance and appropriation committee of the Ogun State House of Assembly, who are monitoring the performance of the 2016 budget.
Adekunle said the revenue target of the agency for the whole of 2016 was N33.5 billion.
The N12 billion tax collected between January and July this year, he explained was a major improvement on the N11 billion generated during the corresponding period in the year 2015.
Chairman of the visiting assembly committee, Akani Bankole, urged the agency to work extra to meet its target for the year.
