Ogun State government says the Lafenwa-Rounder road in Abeokuta, will be given a face lift before the Christmas period.
The deplorable condition of the road, causing traffic gridlock in the axis, was partly blamed for the last week’s petrol tanker explosion, whose fire outbreak engulfed a section of Lafenwa market and killed two persons.
Works and infrastructural commissioner, Engineer Ade Akinsanya said the Lafenwa road will be totally transformed.
According to him, contractors working on the road will move more equipment to the site to facilitate the pace of work on the road project.
Akinsanya spoke on the project, during an assessment visit by members of a committee set up by the state government to investigate the remote causes of the petrol tanker’s accident and the fire outbreak, to the area.
Ogunbanwo said that government was ready for intervention to forestall future occurrence.
The committee chairman, Barrister Femi Ogunbanwo assured those who lost valuables in the fire outbreak that they will be compensated.
Women affairs and social development commissioner, Honorable Funmi Efuwape said members of the committee would work out various modalities towards improving the conditions of the market.
