Police say they have uncovered a plot to disrupt the May 29 inauguration of Ogun State Governor Elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun in Abeokuta.
The State Police Commissioner, Bashir Makama, says that security intelligence at the disposal of the Police Command shows that some unscrupulous elements are scheming to foment trouble across the State, to disrupt the inauguration.
Police Command has therefore placed an embargo on any form of public procession, rally or carnival related to Chieftaincy and land matters across the State.
It directs any aggrieved member, to seek alternative dispute resolution methods or approach the law court for redress.
Spokesman of the Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, asks persons or group intending to hold public assemblies and rallies, to contact the Office of the State Police Commissioner, for necessary approval and security.
The State Police Commissioner, according to him, has put the special units of the Command including Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Police Mobile Force, Anti-Kidnapping, among others, on red alert, to ensure a twenty-four hour surveillance across the State.
Makama also orders the divisional Police Officers and Area Commanders in the State to closely monitor those he described as misguided elements and respond swiftly to any distress calls and disturbance of public peace.
The Command, according to the Police Commissioner, will not hesitate to deal decisively with anybody or group who attempts to disrupt the peace of the State no matter how highly placed.
