Ogun Police to mount 24-hour surveillance on worship centres

Police hunt for kidnapper of herdsmen in Abeokuta

Ogun State police commissioner, Ahmed Ilyasu, has directed his officers to carry out 24-hour surveillance patrol, around the various worship centers, ahead of Easter celebration.

The directive includes the deployment of special units, such as Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS), mobile police force, tactical response and intelligence units, as well as, anti-kidnapping and cultism units for the special operation.

Spokesman of the state police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, in statement, said the surveillance will be extended to event and recreation centers.

According to Oyeyemi, large scale and elaborate tactical, as well as, covert policemen, have been strategically deployed, with a clear mandate of ensuring crime free Easter celebration.

The spokesman asked the public to alert the police, whenever they notice any strange, suspicious faces, or unusual gathering or movement in their areas.
