Ogun Police arrest militants, cultists terrorizing residents

The Police have arrested four of the suspected militants who have been terrorizing people, and vandalizing oil pipeline in various Ogun State communities, including Arepo, Warewa, Imushin, Alapete and Ajegunle in the state.

The suspected militants, included Pere Ogbozua, Ifeanyi Eze, Shobijo Urel and Aijoku Ezeikel.

The state police commissioner, Abdulmajid Ali paraded the suspects at the Command Headquaters in Abeokuta, along with 44 others for various crimes ranging from cultism, kidnapping, murder, car snatching, armed robbery and impersonation.

Ali said the group attacked a team of police mobile force and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and was responsible for abduction of a police corporal who is still missing with his AK 47 rifle.

The police chief said plans are underway to embark on an aerial patrol of the state, especially the troubled communities.

The Commissioner also paraded 12 suspected cultists in connection with the rivalry clash between Eiye and Aye Confranternity in Emuren area of Sagamu, during which several people were killed.

Abdulmajid Ali said the suspects who were arrested in Ogijo, include Taiwo Ayodele, Reuben Godwin, Idris Adeyemi, Saheed Oladipupo, Musliu Adedaudu, Yunisa Tairu, Chinagorom Nwankwor, Adesegun Abiodun and Adewumi Sadiq, as well as Yinka Oduntan and Habeeb Omoniyi.
