Ogun: New Agura Ascends Throne

Governor Ibikunnle Amosun of Ogun State has presented Staff of Office and Certificate to the new Agura of Gbagura, Oba Babajide Bakre.

Amosun speaking at the installation ceremony at the Agura Palace in Abeokuta says the all members of the Egba Traditional Council, including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremo Gbadebo are in support of the choice of the new king.

The Governor urged the people of Gbagura, especially the other eight candidates who vied for the position with Oba Bakre to cooperate and support him for the growth of Gbagura Community.

He enjoined the new monarch to be the father of all sons of Gbagura irrespective of religious difference.

The Chairman of the Regency Council, Balogun of Ojoo, Adio Bayewu explained that nine names were submitted by the Egiri Ruling House to the Abeokuta North Local Government for the position.

He says the Regency Council later met with the Abeokuta North Local Government to choose the new Agura.

The new Agura in his acceptance speech promised to be a good leader to his people.
