OGUN LOST 47 PEOPLE TO COVID IN 2021, POSTED NEW 3,308 CASES

FORTY SEVEN PERSONS DIED IN COVID 19 PANDEMIC IN 2021 IN OGUN STATE, ACCORDING TO DATA FROM THE NATIONAL CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL (NCDC).

THE DEATH TOLL OF THE STATE FROM THE VIRUS AS AT JANUARY 1,2021, WAS 34.

AS AT JANUARY 1, 2022, THE DEATH TOLL HAD RISEN T0 81, FOLLOWING THE SECOND, THIRD AND FOURTH WAVES OF THE PANDEMIC.

ALSO, THE STATE’S TOTAL CONFIRMED CASES ROSE FROM 2,493 ON JANUARY 1, 2021, TO5,716 ON JANUARY 1, THIS YEAR.

BUT DURING THE PERIOD, THE NUMBER OF PATIENTS RECEIVING TREATMENT FROM THE VIRUS DROPPED SHARPLY FROM 218 TO 94.

THE STATE IS AT THE MOMENT UNDERTAKING A MASS VACCINATION OF PEOPLE IN THE STATE AGAINST THE VIRUS, AS WELL AS BOOSTER JAB FOR SOME OF THOSE WHO HAD COMPLETED FULL VACCINATION.

OGUN STATE HAD BEEN RATED HIGH BY THE NATIONAL PRIMARY HEALTHCARE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY IN TERM OF VACCINATION OF ITS RESIDENTS AGAINST THE PANDEMIC IN THE LAST RANKING BE THE HEALTH AGENCY, OGUN STATE WAS THE SECOND BEST PERFORMING STATE, CREDITED WITH THE VACCINATION OF 17.24 PER CENT OF ITS TARGETTED POPULATION.
