Ogun State is the leading state in solid mineral production, according to a new study by Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
NEITI in the report on the 2017 production says Ogun State led other 35 states and federal capital territory in terms of the volume and value of mineral production during the period.
Ogun state, according to NEITI, accounts for over one third of the total mineral produced in the country, and 23 percent of the total value of produced minerals.
The minerals, include limestone and granite whose value was n43.22 billion in 2016 and n52.7 billion in 2017.
In limestone production, the report says Ogun state produced 23 percent of Nigeria’s total output, followed by Federal Capital Territory (20 per cent and Kogi State (18 per cent).
