The Health condition of Lassa fever victim transferred from the Ogun State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta to Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, is improving.
The victim, a 20 year old man was taken to FMC, Abeokuta last Friday for quarantine, at an isolation centre, in the hospital.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye, briefing newsmen after the weekly meeting of the State Executive Council at the Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan in Abeokuta, said the victim is fast recovering.
The Commissioner also said that more people who had contact with the victim before and while he was admitted at the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, have been placed under surveillance.
The number of people placed under surveillance as at last Friday was 66, all of them workers in the hospital.
Ipaye said the number had risen to 106 on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the State Government said it has embarked on sensitization of people on the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the disease in the state.
The Commissioner also said that a surveillance team comprising disease surveillance, nutrition officers and community health officers had been set up to identify anyone with the symptoms of the disease in the state.
