Ogun State and Federal Governments are reviewing the environmental impact assessment of the proposed four major electricity sub-station to be constructed in the state.
The sub-stations being implemented by the transmission company of Nigeria is scheduled for completion in 2020.
Each of the sub stations, which could accommodate 20,000 megawatts of electricity, is to be sited at Agbara Industrial axis, Mowe and Ibafo as well as Ifo to improve power supply to all parts of the state.
The project was reviewed by a panel of experts at a technical meeting organized by federal ministry of environment in Abeokuta in collaboration with Ogun and Lagos State ministries of environment.
Minister of State for Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman Jibril, represented by Mr. Olayinka Tejuosho, explained that the projects will increase access to the power supply by Ogun State which has emerged as Nigeria’s industrial hub.
Consultant to the Ogun State Governor on power generation, Olusegun Gbeleyi, said the panel meeting was to create awareness for the people, review the report of TCN and to examine the environmental and social impact of the project on the host communities.
