The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LLPC), has promoted 30 lawyers to the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mrs. Hadizatu Mustapha, released names of the successful applicants, in Abuja, says the 30 new sans were selected from a total of 156 applicants.
According to her, four of the newly appointed SANs emerged from the academia, with only one woman made the cut.
The lawyers include former Ogun State education, science and technology commissioner, John Odubela, and Justice Commissioner, Akinlolu Osinbajo, younger brother to the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, and a Lagos-based lawyer, Festus Keyamo.
Others who were conferred with the prestigious rank are the Kwara State Attorney General, Kamaldeen Ajibade, former Ondo State governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy, Chief Olusola Oke, Chibuike Nwokeukwu, Johnnie Egwuonwu, Bert Chukwuneta Igwilo, Wilcox Abereton, Michael Alliyu, Francis Egele, Professor Enefiok Essien, Professor Sadiq Shikyl and Sylvester Elema.
Also on the list are Ikenna Egbuna, Professor Adebambo Adewopo, Professor Adedeji Adekunle, Nasser Dangiri, Oluwatoyin Bashorun, Emeka Okpoko, Sani Garun-Gabbas, Abdul Ibrahim, Gboyega Oyewole, Joshua Musa, Ibrahim Mohammed, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole, Oyetola Oshobi, Sulaiman Usman, Kehinde Ogunwumiju and Chiesonu Okpoko.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, will swear in the new SANs on September 18.
