OGUN INCREASES BECE FEES

Ogun state government has increased the fee payable by the junior secondary school pupils in private secondary schools for the basic certificate examination (BECE), from n2,500 to n5,000.
A top official of the state branch of the national association of proprietors of private schools (NAPPS), Yomi White, who made this known on a RockCityFM Programme: ’daybreak show’ said the association has rejected the increment.
Whyte who accused the state government of attempting to turn private schools into a money making venture, with the one hundred percent increment.
The proprietor, who said the association has not authorized him to make an official statement on the issue, said the state chapter of the association has written to the state government calling for a review of the increase in the examination fees.
The private schools according to him are rendering social services and should not be strangulated with many taxes and levies.
