Ogun Customs Seizes 1,839 Contrabands In One Year

Ogun State Area Command One of Nigeria Customs Service has seized a total of 1,839 prohibited items between January 2020 and January this year

The duty paid value of the seized items is put at N2.38 billion

The area comptroller, Peter Chado Kolo, who announced this while briefing newsmen at his Idiroko post on the score card of the command, said between January to December 2020, contraband with duty paid value of N64,212 were seized at the Idi Roko border

The seizure during the period, included 47,601 fifty kilogramme bags of Rice, 461 units of used vehicles, poultry products, used tyres, used clothing’s, dangerous drugs, palm oil, soaps and creams

Within January this year alone, the comptroller says that various prohibited items with duty paid value of N1,55 billion were seized, including over 6,000 bags of fifty kilogramme bags and 25 kilogramme of rice, as well as 51 used vehicles and those used to convey the contraband were seized Also seized in January this year were 1,382 cartons of frozen poultry products, over 22 thousand litres of petroleum products and 21 bales of used clothing.
