Ogun constructs centre for destitutes

A centre is being constructed by the Ogun state government at Kobape, near Abeokuta, for the rehabilitation and skill training of destitutes, as part of measures to rid the city of destitutes.

Women Affairs and Social Development Commissioner, Biola Kufile made this known during an inspection visit to the empty rehabilitation centre at Oke-Ilewo by members of the committee on rehabilitation of beggars and destitutes.

The commissioner explained that the Kobape rehabilitation centre project was conceived to rid streets of destitutes and to make them self-employed.

She said that vocational training available at the Oke-Ilewo centre, include make-up, hair dressing, tailoring and catering.
