Ogun gives N54m Fadama loan to farmers

Two new irrigation dams are being constructed in Ogun State, to boost agricultural production in the state.

Preliminary work is on-going on the dam projects, to be sited at Ikenne and Ijebu-Ode in the Ijebu/Remo axis of the state.

The proposed Ikenne dam is to irrigate 2,500 hectare of farmland, while the Ijebu-Ode dam will cover 1,100 hectare of farmland.

Agriculture commissioner, Mrs Adepeju Adebajo, made this known, while receiving the management officials of the Ogun/Osun River Basin Development Authority in her office, at Oke Mosan, in Abeokuta.

Adebajo explained that the project is being implemented by the state government in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

The two dam projects, according to the commissioner, will be completed within one year.
