Ogun state house of assembly has asked the state government to put machinery in place to facilitate early re-opening of schools across the state
The assembly asks the state health and education ministries to immediately set up a task force to set up a task force to ensure that secondary schools’ final year students in the state write their senior school certificate examination
The speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, who made the call while reacting to a motion by the vice chairman of the assembly education committee, Adeynaju Awoso, expressed concern over the continued closure of schools due to Covid-19 pandemic
Awoso in his motion says the state government and its counterparts in the south west region should stop using the pandemic as an excuse to keep students at home
According to him, if parties’ primaries could be allowed in Edo and Ondo states, there is no basis for depriving students the opportunity to write their WAEC examination
