Ogun Assembly summons state officials over Okada permit

Ogun State

Ogun state House of Assembly has summoned top officials of the state Internal Revenue Service, Bureau of Transport and state Justice Ministry over the controversial issuance of riders permit to commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada, operating in the state.

The Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, who issued the summon during the House plenary in Abeokuta, asked the officials to appear before the Assembly.

The Deputy Speaker, Kunle Oluomo, while moving a motion for adjournment, had complained of the revenue collection agency hijacking the responsibility of the Bureau of Transport, by issuing riders permit to commercial motorcyclists in violation of the law, which, solely, empowers the Bureau to do so.

The speaker cautioned IRS to stop issuing riders permit until the House resolves the issue.
