The Ogun State tax harmonization bill is being reworked by the state house of assembly to make it acceptable to investors and major stakeholders in the state.
The organized private sector in the State, has been clamouring for the passage of the bill, to escape from the multiple taxation which manufacturers claimed had raised their costs of production.
Spokesman of the State House of Assembly, Honorable Yusuf Adejojo, explains that the bill is undergoing fine-tuning in the house.
Adejojo, speaking while appearing on a Rockcity Fm Programme: “daybreak show’ explains that the bill had stayed long in the assembly due to the differences of lawmakers and the Amosun Administration which introduced it on certain sections which they regard as punitive.
He explains that the ninth assembly needs time to pass the bill, because it has to consult major stakeholders to get their imput into the bill.
On the various ongoing road projects, Adejojo dismisses claim by the immediate past Governor Ibikunle Amosun that his Administration paid the contractors the full sum of contracts for the projects.
According to him, contractors who spoke to assembly’s committees during their oversight inspection of the projects faulted the claim of Amosun.
