Ogun State House of Assembly has empowered operatives of the Vigilante Service of Ogun State to carry light arms in fighting crimes in the state.
This empowerment is to regulate the activities of vigilante groups operating in the state.
This follows the passage of the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps Agency Bill.
Speaking with Rockcity FM, shortly after the state Assembly’s plenary in Abeokuta, Deputy Speaker Kunle Oluomo, who is the bill sponsor, explained that, it will assist the state vigilante corps to support the police and other security agencies in strengthening security network in the state.
Also, the corps commander of the state vigilante service, Olusoji Ganzallo, said the passage of the bill will enhance operation of his operative, pledging to ensure effective training of the corps operatives.
