Ogun State House of Assembly has expressed concern over the bad condition of some of the major roads in the state.
The roads include Ota/Ifo segment of the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway and Agbara-Atan Ota road.
The lawmakers ask the state government to lease with the federal ministry of works to fix them.
The Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, raised the issue during the house resumed plenary in Abeokuta, while reacting to complaints from two lawmakers from the Ado-Odo/Ota area, Akinpelu Aina and Akanbi Bankole, on the deplorable conditions of the roads.
The speaker, recalling the past effort of both the state government and federal government, said the initial palliative measures on the roads have failed because the affected portion is below the sea level
Aina suggests to the contractors handling the flood control projects in the Ota axis to include the construction of drainage channels in the project designs and speed up the pace of construction.
The state house of assembly also directed the state commissioner for finance, Wale Osinowo and his budget and planning counterpart, Ms Adenrele Adesina, to appear before Friday, October 12, 2018 at 10:00am.Please subscribe to our newsletter
