The appeal court sitting in Ibadan has kept, in suspense, both governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State and the state APM governorship candidate, Prince Abdulkabir Akinlade, over the litigations on the state’s 2019 governorship poll.
The APM candidate has asked the appeal court to reverse the last september 14 ruling of the Ogun State governorship poll petitions tribunal, which upheld Abiodun of APC as the poll’s winner.
The appeal court, considering Akinlade’s appeal on monday, says it will reserve its judgement until further notice.
The five member panel of judges, led by Justice Abubakar Yahaya, says they will communicate with their counsel.
Akinlade’s counsel,Sebastine hon, had argued that governor Abiodun presented a false academic credential to the independent national electoral commission (INEC) to facilitate his contest in the march 2019 poll.
Abiodun counsel, Professor Taiwo Osipitan, in a counter argument, said the issue of academic qualification was a pre-election matter which has lapsed.
