Ogun Amotekun Arrested Five Suspected Kidnappers Linked With The Abduction Of Worshippers In Obada Oko

Operatives of the Ogun State Amotekun Corps have arrested five suspected kidnappers at Obada Oko, near Abeokuta, the state capital.

The suspects were linked to the abduction of some worshippers during a night vigil at a church in Obada Oko, last October 24.

The Amotekun Comander, Retired Police Commissioner David Akinremi in a statement said, two of the suspects,  Samsideen Sulaimon, and Musa Hammed were initially arrested last October 26, based on intelligence gathered in Ifelodun/ Moferere community in the area.

According to the commander, the sum of 73 thousand and 250 naira was found on the suspects when they were immediately searched during interrogation.

He said the money was suspected to be part of the ransom paid for the release of those kidnapped in the church in Obada Oko on 24th October.

The Amotekun commander said the suspects initially claimed to be commercial motorcyclists and that the money was a proceed from commercial motorcycles operations.

He said that further interrogation led to the arrest of three others suspected members of the kidnap gang in a hideout at divine estate in the area.

Aderemi said the arrested suspects had made useful statements and are being transferred to the police headquarters, Eleweran for further necessary action.
